| Greetings,
Welcome to the Spring edition of the BAMPAC
Bulletin! We are proud to bring you this issue
in color! What do you make of the unfolding Presidential
Sweepstakes contest? Undoubtedly, the Presidential
contest is taking twists and turns that even
the best pundits could not accurately predict.
This is great as it has energized voters much
earlier in the process. Also, this has rightfully
put the spotlight on issues in lieu of personalities.
In addition to the Presidential race, the congressional
and senatorial tug-of-war is providing its own
high stakes encased in political drama. You'll
learn more of this in our continued focus and
update on Election 2000 in this issue.
What's new
in this issue? We continue our analysis of
the upcoming election season and present the
second installment in the series chronicling
memorable events in American History. Other highlights
include: photos from our DC fundraisers for Candidates
Jennifer Carroll and Dylan Glenn, BAMPAC Spotlight
on Lt. Governor Joe Rogers’ recent profile
in Ebony Magazine, an issue forum on the "state" of
South Carolina, and other engaging aspects.
I am proud
to report that we've completely redesigned
our website (www.bampac.org) to provide a more
thorough and interactive experience for our visitors.
We now offer the following: legislative updates,
up to the minute election information, candidate
profiles, online voter registration, current
BAMPAC press releases and related news. Other
sections of the site explain the functions of
a political action committee. We have also updated
existing information such as our landmark 1999
National Opinion Poll, the issues section and
our 1998 Annual Report in addition to continuing
the BAMPAC marketplace shopping network. In the
near future we will post BAMPAC’s 1999
Annual Report on the site. Please visit the site
today and stay awhile.
As we head
towards the summer, the nation's political
environment will continue to sizzle.
During the next five months let us not forget
that our tradition of a peaceful transfer of
power is never to be underestimated or taken
for granted. It may seem that nothing ever gets
accomplished in Washington, D.C., but the hard
reality is the way our nation's business is conducted
is perhaps as "good as it gets.” As
the events unfold, we will continue to bring
you the latest in political developments and
our official positions on these pivotal events.
We were most pleased to hear from so many of
you on your appreciation of our Winter Issue.
